Last Update: 20041217 pebble x voyage ================================== Pebble (http://www.nycwireless.net/pebble) is a trim-down version of Debian Woody 3.0 made by Terry Schmidt. It is intended to run on Soekris 45xx/48xx (www.soekris.com) and WRAP boards. Voyage is a bundle of additional packages that can be installed on top of pebble. These packages include the lastest 2.4 kernel with various wireless device drivers. All packages are contributed by various maintainers, and are backported to and compiled under Debian Woody. Quick Start ================================== To install additional pebble packages you need to edit source.list under /etc/apt: remountrw vi /etc/apt/source.list and add the following line: deb http://www.voyage.hk/debian ./ Before using apt-get, you will need to setup extra stuff: cd /etc wget http://www.voyage.hk/download/pebble-voyage/lilo.conf.pebble-voyage cp lilo.conf lilo.conf.bak cp lilo.conf.pebble-voyage lilo.conf cd / You can now use apt-get to install additional package: apt-get update apt-get install \ kernel-image-2.4.26-voyage \ hostap-utils hostapd hotplug \ libiw27 wireless-tools\ You will also need to double check that lilo is configured properly: lilo and make sure the symlink to correct kernel: ls -l /vmlinuz (vmlinuz -> /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.26-voyage) if not: ln -s boot/vmlinuz-2.4.26-voyage vmlinuz lilo Upon installation successful, you may remove unnecessary files by: remove.docs remountro and reboot.
